Often end-user fleet operators decide to fund their fleets directly or separate out funding from management, which they will often outsource to specialist fleet management businesses.
These companies employ teams of experts who can help with their clients’ fleet strategy, approach to TCO (total cost of ownership), negotiate with suppliers and take direct responsibility for everything from acquisition to in-life services to remarketing.
A great fleet management company can either be local, national or international, sometimes providing their expertise in several different country markets, with billions in revenue.
Consequently, there are many jobs in fleet management, with roles often being technical, but also commercial. Typical roles will be for operations and technical management with experience of the full in-life SMR cycle, sales and sales management, VRM (remarketing), procurement and supplier management, fleet strategy experts and consultants.
