Meet the Callidus Team – Millie Anderson
Over the course of the summer, we will be posting a number of blogs introducing our team here at Callidus.
Hello, I’m Millie. I joined the team in March 2018. I work for Callidus 2 days per week as an Administrative Assistant.
For the first 6 months in my role I worked in the office in Alton. However as of September 2018 I have worked remotely from my new home in Epsom, although I still call in to the office regularly during the day!
Alongside working for Callidus I also run my own business as a Textile Designer and Illustrator – Amelia Anderson Design. I set up my business in September 2017 after graduating from the Bath School of Art and Design. All my designs start off as hand painted illustrations, most of which feature animals, birds and florals. The initial idea for my designs often comes when I’m out and about, especially at the weekends. I regularly photograph things that inspire me and use them as reference for my paintings. Once I have a finished painting, I then have it printed on to greetings cards, prints, cushions and tea towels, all of which I sell through an Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AmeliaAndersonDesign).
It’s really important to me to try and keep my business as environmentally friendly as possible, only using biodegradable or recyclable materials and packaging wherever I can, and all my work is printed in the UK.
Outside of work I enjoy a range of hobbies. Recently, I have started experimenting more with cooking, trying out new recipes (sometimes good and sometimes not so good!). At the weekends I also enjoy yoga, (even more) painting, visiting friends and walking up to the Epsom Downs and surrounding areas.
Earlier this year my boyfriend and I took on a neglected, overgrown allotment and we’re slowing clearing and renovating it. While it is very much a long-term project, we have started to grow our own food on a small part of it, which has been incredibly rewarding.
