In February 2015, the FLA said that a staggering 76% of retail sales were made using motor finance, so it is no surprise that the Motor FS (financial services) market, although competitive, is a strong one.

This means there are a large number of providers, both manufacturer branded (the captives) and those trading under their own bank/finance-house brands all trying their hardest to build relationships with vehicle brands and dealers so that they are the FS provider of choice.

A new but rapidly growing entrant to this market is the peer-to-peer lender. These companies attract funding from a large number of individual investors guaranteeing minimum returns, who then compete head-on with the traditional providers. Whichever lender-type they are, they have to demonstrate additional value in the relationship over and above providing retail or wholesale finance, often investing heavily in technology, coaching and training of dealer staff and supporting the seller in remaining FCA compliant.

Sitting alongside the consumer-finance houses are the insurance (motor, warranty, GAP) providers, which employ teams of people to develop great working relationships with the dealers and manufacturers.

The commercial-vehicle market also has a number of thriving FS companies – both captive and otherwise – that support the sale of CV and truck product with great effect. Truck operators require the same levels of service and great funding products to keep their businesses on the road. Consequently, they require the same high levels of talent and experience to compete in a highly competitive and mature market.

From these businesses we receive: wholesale and retail car finance jobs, sales roles, marketing, customer services, administration management, motor finance account manager jobs and underwriting positions. Each motor FS business employs both office and field-based sales and account-management teams, product development, marketing and compliance teams all requiring talent at every level, from dealer development or account managers through to regional/national management and board-level leaders.
